The annual Best of Darlington awards is an amazing night designed to recognize the many who volunteer in the town and/or contribute to making Darlington a great place to live and work in. The event hosted by magician and entertainer Tim Litchfield, had over 400 in attendance and between presentations there was some superb local talent to keep the audience enthralled. Hayley McKay provided some beautiful vocals as did the brilliant choir from Mowden Junior School.
The Dolphin centre ensured all of the guests were fed and watered and were on hand throughout the evening to help ensure the evening ran smoothly. The sports hall was transformed into a beautiful space (which has got me thinking about some projects would love to get started on!) What was wonderful about the night was the chance to speak face to face with some amazing people. Lots of contact now is done through messages and emails not to mention tweets and social media communication so it was lovely to chat about some of the exciting projects going on in the town in 2019 and beyond. One i’m particularly excited about is from the Tracks team, and its the last train home event on 7th Sept, a music and comedy event with 7 stages and over 50 artists involved. (tracksdarlington.co.uk)
